Yes, there is a small entrance fee to visit Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls. The cost is just 20,000 IDR (around €1.20) per person, which goes toward maintaining the trails and supporting the preservation of this beautiful natural area in North Lombok.

Swimming at Tiu Kelep Waterfall is possible, but caution is advised as the currents can be quite strong, especially after heavy rain. Always assess the conditions before entering the water.
At Sendang Gile Waterfall, swimming isn’t typically recommended, but we highly suggest walking through the cascade – it’s a refreshing and invigorating experience you won’t forget.

Lombok Travel: What is the Best Time to Visit Tiu Kelep and Sendang Waterfalls?
The best time to visit Tiu Kelep and Sendang waterfalls is during Lombok’s dry season (May to October) when the weather is more predictable and the trails are less slippery. However, these stunning Lombok waterfalls can be visited year-round.
For a quieter experience, we recommend visiting early in the morning, ideally before 10 am, as the waterfalls tend to get busier later in the day.

We began our hike to Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls at 9 am and were the only ones there for our entire visit. It was absolutely fantastic.

Lombok Travel: How Long Does it Take to Hike to Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls?
The Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile waterfall hike is pretty easy.
From the entrance, you will arrive at Sendang Gile Waterfall after only 10-15 minutes.

From Sendang Gile Waterfall, it’s about a 30-minute walk to Tiu Kelep Waterfall, depending on your fitness level.

The Tiu Kelep Waterfall hike involves some light scrambling over rocks and walking through shallow water, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear that you don’t mind getting wet.

Lombok Travel: Are There Facilities Like Restaurants or Restrooms Near Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls?
At the entrance to Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls, you’ll find local warungs (restaurants), along with stalls selling water and snacks near Sendang Gile Waterfall.
However, these facilities may not always be open or could have limited availability. To be safe, it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and water for the hike.
Lombok Travel: What Should I Bring for the Hike to Tiu Kelep and Sedang Gile Waterfalls?
When hiking to Tiu Kelep and Sedang Gile Waterfalls it’s advisable to bring sturdy hiking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a ziplock bag for your phone, and a dry bag for all your belongings to protect them from the spray of the falls.
Of course, always bring water/snacks for your hikes.
Finally, If you plan to swim, bring a change of clothes, unless you are staying in a nearby guesthouse/hotel.

Lombok Travel: Can I Camp Near Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls?
Camping near Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls is not allowed. Most visitors hike to the waterfalls as part of a Lombok day trip and return to Senaru or other nearby accommodations.
We stayed at Pondok Guru Bakti Cottage, located less than 1km from the entrance to Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls, and we highly recommend this Senaru accommodation for its convenient location, unbelievable food, and one of the best views in Lombok.
For those interested in more adventure, tubing is available at both Lombok waterfalls for 100k IDR (€5.90) per person. When we declined, they offered us the experience for 100k IDR for both of us. However, the 5-6 minute tubing ride through a dark tunnel wasn’t quite our idea of fun – so we gave it a hard pass. But each to their own!
