Oman Weather: When is the Best Time to Visit Oman?

Oman generally experiences a hot desert climate across most of the country.

Here are some key points about Oman’s weather:

Oman Weather: Coastal Areas

Cities like Muscat and Salalah experience a moderate climate due to their proximity to the sea.

Summers (April to September) are hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 30°C to 40°C (86°F to 104°F).

Winters (October to March) are milder, with temperatures averaging around 25°C (77°F), providing a pleasant environment for outdoor activities.

Oman Weather: Inland Regions

Inland areas and desert regions, including Wahiba Sands and Nizwa, endure extremely hot summers, often exceeding 40°C (104°F) and occasionally reaching 50°C (122°F).

Winters bring relief with more bearable temperatures, ranging between 15°C and 25°C (59°F to 77°F) during the day.

However, nights can get significantly colder, dropping to around 5°C to 10°C (41°F to 50°F).

Oman Weather: Rainfall

Oman experiences minimal rainfall, mainly concentrated in the winter months from December to March, particularly in the northern regions and the mountains.

The southern city of Salalah, however, has a unique monsoon season (Khareef) from late June to early September, bringing regular drizzles and a transformation of the usually dry landscape into lush greenery.

We visited towards the end of April and it was already getting hot hot!
