Each selected Indonesian destination in this article offer plenty of highlights to explore, and easy transportation connecting every destination, making your Indonesia holiday hassle-free.
Indonesia is a massive country with plenty of unbelievable attractions, and you could explore the region for months. But unfortunately not everyone has that time. This 2-week Indonesia itinerary of Bali, Lombok and the Gili Islands, offers the perfect balance of adventure, Indonesian culture, and paradise island chilling, so you can truly get the best experience of all that Indonesia has to offer.
Embarking on this Indonesia trip of a lifetime, we will combine spectacular natural landmarks, stunning waterfalls, awe-inspiring temples, breathtaking scenery, paradise beaches, welcoming locals, delicious cuisine, and budget-friendly accommodation options.

2-Week Indonesia Itinerary: An Overlook
We begin our 2 weeks in Indonesia in Bali discovering culture and natural attractions. Bali is one of many islands in Indonesia and there are many places to stay in Bali. For your first few days, we’ll settle in the nearest towns to Denpasar Airport (Bali Airport), namely Kuta or Seminyak.

From Kuta or Seminyak, we’ll drive the short distance to Ubud, a cultural gem, where we’ll use the town as a base to explore further breathtaking natural attractions in Bali and visit some of the most beautiful temples in the world.
Our next Indonesia destination is the lesser-explored island of Lombok. Departing from Bali to Lombok in the morning, we’ll cross by ferry and discover Lombok’s natural wonders in the afternoon, where you will get to witness two of Indonesia’s best waterfalls.
The following day, you’ll embark on a two-night, one-day trek to ascend Indonesia’s third-highest peak – Mount Rinjani.
Finally, after all those Lombok adventures, it will be time to relax, have a cocktail, and listen to some reggae music on the paradise beaches of the Gili Islands for the perfect end to your 2-week Indonesia itinerary.

Day 1-3: Kuta/Seminyak, Bali
- Day 1: Arrive at Denpasar Airport, the only airport in Bali. There are two choices of where to stay on your first day, either Kuta or Seminyak. Explore your new surroundings, visit the beach, and start indulging in delicious Indonesian cuisine.
- Day 2: Start the morning by visiting the iconic Tanah Lot Temple. An iconic Bali temple located on sea cliffs. Relax for the afternoon before visiting Uluwatu Temple for sunset. This is another picturesque temple perched on a cliff and a must visit in Bali that gives you stunning ocean views and traditional Balinese cultural performances at sunset.
- Day 3: Take a day trip from Bali to the nearby Nusa Islands to discover rugged natural attractions such as Kelingking Beach, Manta Point, and Broken Beach.
Day 4 -7: Ubud, Bali
- Day 4: Travel day to Ubud from Kuta/Semniyak, the cultural heart of Bali. Travel time will only be one hour and a half. In the afternoon visit the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary another must visit top Bali attraction and explore the charming streets of Ubud.
- Day 5: Start the day by visiting the iconic Ulun Danu, a picturesque water temple dedicated to Hindu gods. Following that, explore two of Bali’s top waterfalls. Firstly, the largest waterfall in Bali – Sekumpul. And afterwards, the most beautiful waterfall in Bali – the breathtaking Banyumala.
- Day 6: Today’s activity begins with a visit to one of the most beautiful gardens in the world – Tegalalang Rice Terraces. Afterward, experience cultural and spiritual enlightenment in Gunung Kawi known for its striking rock-cut shrines dedicated to kings and queens. Cleanse yourself in Tirta Empul Temple, famous for its holy spring water. And lastly, Goa Gajah, also known as the Elephant Cave. In our opinion, all of these temples are must visit Bali attractions.
- Day 7: The day starts very early of your 2 weeks in Indonesia with a sunrise trek to Mount Batur’s Summit, an active volcano with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and Lake Batur. Day 8 – 10: Lombok
- Day 8: Transfer from Bali to Lombok in the morning by boat. There are many boats departing daily and catered for al budgets. You will be staying in Senaru Village which is the perfect place to start your Mount Rinjani hike the next day. After lunch and settling in, explore the nearby Sendang Gile & Tiu Kelep Waterfalls, two of Indonesia’s best waterfalls! These waterfalls can also be explored on Day 10.
- Day 9: Today, you’ll rise early to begin your Mount Rinjani hike from Senaru Village, trekking to the Rinjani crater rim where you’ll camp overnight. Enjoy stunning crater lake views and breathtaking landscapes along the way. This is a challenging hike and may not be suitable for everyone.
- Day 10: Start your morning with a spectacular sunrise of Mount Rinjani. Hikers then either descend back to the starting point. Other hikers continue to the summit of Mount Rinjani before descending back to Senaru Village.

Day 11 -13: Gili Islands
- Day 11: Transfer from Lombok to the Gili Islands, which are made up of 3 islands – Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. All of the Gili Islands are paradise destinations with gorgeous beaches and turquoise water, making it a perfect place for snorkeling, swimming, cocktails, and live reggae music. - Day 12: You are nearing the end of your 2 weeks in Indonesia and the only thing you have left to do is relax on a Gili Island beach. Enjoy a day of chilling, snorkeling, swimming, and a sunset with a cocktail, followed by a BBQ dinner.
- Day 13: This day will be the exact same as day 11, you are in paradise, enjoy it. It is possible to visit other Gili Islands on a day trip, just make sure to get on the last boat back to your island!

Day 14- 15: Kuta, Bali
- Day 14: Transfer back to Bali from Gili Islands by boat. We recommend staying in Kuta for your last night of your two weeks in Indonesia. Not only is it closest to the airport. But you can also buy some last-minute souvenirs in the many markets, just make sure to haggle because they do tend to overcharge!
- Day 15: Sadly your two weeks in Indonesia has come to an end and it is time to go home……Bye Bye Indonesia, we love you!

Is a 2-week Indonesia Itinerary Enough?
There will never be enough time to visit Indonesia, simply because this paradise country has so much to offer. But with this 2-week Indonesia itinerary, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the best attractions in Bali, Lombok, and the Gili Islands.
You’ll certainly be active and engaged throughout most days, but remember there will also be some wind down time in paradise at the end to refuel before you go home. Unless you take to much advantage of those happy hours in Gili!
Below we will mention alternative options within your two weeks in Indonesia. For example, if trekking isn’t your thing, we can optimize your 2-week Indonesia itinerary by skipping the Mount Rinjani hike, or by spending more time at alternative destinations that better suit your tastes.

2-Week Indonesia Itinerary: Alternative Options
Maybe you do not fancy getting up in the middle of the night to walk to the top of a volcano, fair enough! Then let’s not waste time on these activities and let’s explore alternative options in our 2-week Indonesia itinerary instead. By skipping the Mount Rinjani hike, you will free up 3 days of time.
- Day 7: Rather than hiking Mount Batur, today involves transferring to Kuta Lombok (not to be confused with Kuta in Bali!),Kuta Lombok is known for its laid-back atmosphere, surfing scene, and picturesque rugged beaches.
- Day 8: Explore the surroundings in Kuta such as Bukit Merese, Sunut, and the Mandalika International Moto GP circuit.
- Day 9: Transfer to Senaru via the picturesque gardens of Bukit Selong – a hidden gem of Lombok. Even if you’re not trekking Mount Rinjani, the waterfalls of Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep need to be visited and are in our opinion the best waterfalls in Indonesia, bold statement right
- Day 10: Start your relaxation on Gili islands a day early, and follow the rest of the 2 week Indonesia itinerary as above.
