Namibia once held the top spot for the most breathtaking landscapes we had ever seen—until we visited Tajikistan. Now, Tajikistan’s landscapes have claimed the number one spot.
Tajikistan is home to the famous Pamir Mountains and Fann Mountains to name but a few.

Next up on our reasons to visit Tajikistan are the lakes. We did mention all the mountains and lakes at the beginning!

Now to be upfront here, Happy Irish Wanderers are not big trekkers. In fact, our first real experience of multi-day trekking was when traveling Tajikistan.

This was the greatest Tajikistan adventure for us as we traversed alongside the Afghanistan border, ventured over high-altitude passes surrounded by jagged peaks and rushing rivers. Staying in local mountain villages along the way just added to the overall experience. What amazing memories.
